The proverbs of Shlomo, the son of David, king of Yisra'el:


He spoke three thousand proverbs; and his songs were one thousand five.


The word of the LORD that came to Mikhah the Morashti in the days of Yotam, Achaz, and Chizkiyahu, kings of Yehudah, which he saw concerning Shomron and Yerushalayim.


The word of the LORD that came to Hoshea the son of Be'eri, in the days of `Uzziyah, Yotam, Achaz, and Chizkiyahu, kings of Yehudah, and in the days of Yarov`am the son of Yo'ash, king of Yisra'el.


He sent Elyakim, who was over the household, and Shevna the scribe, and the elders of the Kohanim, covered with sackcloth, to Yeshaiyahu the prophet, the son of Amotz.

Further, because Kohelet was wise, he still taught the people knowledge. Yes, he pondered, sought out, and set in order many proverbs.


The proverbs of Shlomo. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.


so shall your poverty come as a robber, and your want as an armed man.
