Your glory, Yisra'el, is slain on your high places! How the mighty have fallen!

How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low!

Yet gleanings will be left there, like the shaking of an olive tree, two or three olives in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outermost branches of a fruitful tree,* says the LORD, the God of Yisra'el.

For it will be so in the midst of the earth among the peoples, as the shaking of an olive tree, as the gleanings when the vintage is done.

If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, wouldn't they destroy until they had enough?

How is the hammer of the whole earth cut apart and broken! how is Bavel become a desolation among the nations!

Thus says the LORD of Armies, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Yisra'el as a vine: turn again your hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.

How the city sits solitary, that was full of people! She has become as a widow, who was great among the nations! She who was a princess among the provinces is become tributary!

Your mighty men, Teman, will be dismayed, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esav by slaughter.

Misery is mine! Indeed, I am like one who gathers the summer fruits, as gleanings of the vineyard: There is no cluster of grapes to eat. My soul desires to eat the early fig.

This is the joyous city that lived carelessly, that said in her heart, *I am, and there is none besides me.* How she has become a desolation, a place for animals to lie down in! Everyone who passes by her will hiss, and shake their fists.

When you gather [the grapes of] your vineyard, you shall not glean it after you: it shall be for the foreigner, for the fatherless, and for the widow.

standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, Bavel, the strong city! For your judgment has come in one hour.'
