`Azaryah the chief Kohen, of the house of Tzadok, answered him and said, Since [the people] began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have eaten and had enough, and have left plenty: for the LORD has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store.
Their seed shall be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples; all who see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD has blessed.
My people, remember now what Balak king of Mo'av devised, and what Bil`am the son of Be'or answered him from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the LORD.*
Behold, the people that is come out of Egypt, it covers the surface of the earth: now, come curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.
Please come now therefore curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may strike them, and that I may drive them out of the land; for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.
Surely there is no enchantment with Ya`akov; Neither is there any divination with Yisra'el. Now it shall be said of Ya`akov and of Yisra'el, What has God done!
Bil`am said to Balak, Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go: perhaps the LORD will come to meet me; and whatever he shows me I will tell you. He went to a bare height.
While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, *Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.*
For the LORD your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand; he has known your walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.
Nevertheless the LORD your God wouldn't listen to Bil`am; but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because the LORD your God loved you.
You are happy, Yisra'el. Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, the sword of your excellency! Your enemies shall submit themselves to you. You shall tread on their high places.
