because all those men who have seen my glory, and my signs, which I worked in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have tempted me these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;
These twenty years I have been in your house. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your flock, and you have changed my wages ten times.
They said to Moshe, *Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you treated us this way, to bring us forth out of Egypt?
Therefore the people quarreled with Moshe, and said, *Give us water to drink.* Moshe said to them, *Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the LORD?*
The people were thirsty for water there; and the people murmured against Moshe, and said, *Why have you brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?*
He called the name of the place Massah, and Merivah, because the children of Yisra'el quarreled, and because they tested the LORD, saying, *Is the LORD among us, or not?*
When the people saw that Moshe delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aharon, and said to him, *Come, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moshe, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.*
and they said to them, *May the LORD look at you, and judge, because you have made us a stench to be abhorred in the eyes of Par`oh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to kill us.*
In every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.
The people were as murmurers, [speaking] evil in the ears of the LORD: and when the LORD heard it, his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.
The LORD said to Moshe, How long will this people despise me? and how long will they not believe in me, for all the signs which I have worked among them?
All the children of Yisra'el murmured against Moshe and against Aharon: and the whole congregation said to them, Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would that we had died in this wilderness!
Remember, don't forget, how you provoked the LORD your God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that you went forth out of the land of Egypt, until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the LORD.
