The Perushim and Tzedukim came, and testing him, asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

One of them, a Torah scholar, asked him a question, testing him.

Perushim came to him testing him, and asked him, *Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?*

They sent some of the Perushim and of the Herodians to him, that they might trap him with words.
