Woe to you Torah scholars! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn't enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.*
For the Kohen's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth; for he is the messenger of the LORD of Armies.
One of them, a Torah scholar, asked him a question, testing him.
*Woe to you, scribes and Perushim, hypocrites! For you devour widows' houses, and as a pretense you make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.
As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Perushim began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him;
They agreed with him. Summoning the emissaries, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Yeshua, and let them go.
