They profess that they know God, but by their works they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.

Yisra'el served the LORD all the days of Yehoshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Yehoshua, and had known all the work of the LORD, that he had worked for Yisra'el.

Now the sons of `Eli were base men; they didn't know the LORD.
