Yehudah went against the Kena`anim who lived in Chevron (now the name of Chevron before was Kiryat-Arba); and they struck Sheshai, and Achiman, and Talmai.
He said to him, *Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers, and well with the flock; and bring me word again.* So he sent him out of the valley of Chevron, and he came to Shekhem.
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.
Thus says the LORD, Don't let the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, don't let the rich man glory in his riches;
They went up by the South, and came to Chevron; and Achiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of `Anak, were there. (Now Chevron was built seven years before Tzo`an in Egypt.)
