Therefore they cried to the LORD, and said, *We beg you, LORD, we beg you, let us not perish for this man's life, and don't lay on us innocent blood; for you, LORD, have done as it pleased you.*
Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man to his god. They threw the cargo that was in the ship into the sea, to lighten it. But Yonah had gone down into the innermost parts of the ship, and he was laying down, and was fast asleep.
but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and animal, and let them cry mightily to God. Yes, let them turn everyone from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands.
When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said one to another, *No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live.*
in whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his will;
Forgive, the LORD, your people Yisra'el, whom you have redeemed, and don't allow innocent blood [to remain] in the midst of your people Yisra'el. The blood shall be forgiven them.
