Ritzpah the daughter of Ayah took sackcloth, and spread it for her on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water was poured on them from the sky; and she allowed neither the birds of the sky to rest on them by day, nor the animals of the field by night.

They buried the bones of Sha'ul and Yonatan his son in the country of Binyamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. After that God was entreated for the land.

Eliyahu said to Ach'av, Get you up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.

It happened in a little while, that the sky grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. Ach'av rode, and went to Yizre`el:

Then all the men of Yehudah and Binyamin gathered themselves together to Yerushalayim within the three days; it was the ninth month, on the twentieth [day] of the month: and all the people sat in the broad place before the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.

For by these he judges the people. He gives food in abundance.

*Listen to this, Iyov. Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

For he says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth;' likewise to the shower of rain, and to the showers of his mighty rain.

You drench its furrows. You level its ridges. You soften it with showers. You bless it with a crop.

*Be glad then, you children of Tziyon, and rejoice in the LORD, your God; for he gives you the former rain in just measure, and he causes the rain to come down for you, the former rain and the latter rain, as before.
