The messenger who went to call Mikhayahu spoke to him, saying, See now, the words of the prophets [declare] good to the king with one mouth: please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak you good.
Then the king of Yisra'el gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, Shall I go against Ramot Gil`ad to battle, or shall I forbear? They said, Go up; for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.
Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, the prophets tell them, You shall not see the sword, neither shall you have famine; but I will give you assured shalom in this place.
They say continually to those who despise me, the LORD has said, You shall have shalom; and to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil shall come on you.
Your prophets have seen for you false and foolish visions; They have not uncovered your iniquity, to bring back your captivity, But have seen for you false oracles and causes of banishment.
Because with lies you have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, and be saved alive:
For when they are saying, *Peace and safety,* then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape.
