Those who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying, *Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms;

The earth will stagger like a drunken man, and will sway back and forth like a hammock. Its disobedience will be heavy on it, and it will fall and not rise again.

But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, and an everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the nations are not able to abide his indignation.

Because of the wrath of the LORD she shall not be inhabited, but she shall be wholly desolate: everyone who goes by Bavel shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.

A sword is on the boasters, and they shall become fools; a sword is on her mighty men, and they shall be dismayed.

The king of Bavel has heard the news of them, and his hands wax feeble: anguish has taken hold of him, [and] pangs as of a woman in travail.

Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he has taken against Bavel; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the land of the Kasdim: Surely they shall drag them away, [even] the little ones of the flock; surely he shall make their habitation desolate over them.

At the noise of the taking of Bavel the earth trembles, and the cry is heard among the nations.

They shall not take of you a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but you shall be desolate for ever, says the LORD.

Prepare against her the nations, the kings of the Madai, the governors of it, and all the deputies of it, and all the land of their dominion.

Bavel shall become heaps, a dwelling place for jackals, an astonishment, and a hissing, without inhabitant.

Her cities are become a desolation, a dry land, and a desert, a land in which no man dwells, neither does any son of man pass thereby.

The snorting of his horses is heard from Dan: at the sound of the neighing of his strong ones the whole land trembles; for they are come, and have devoured the land and all that is in it; the city and those who dwell therein.

The earth quakes before them. The heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.

Won't the land tremble for this, and everyone mourn who dwells in it? Yes, it will rise up wholly like the River; and it will be stirred up and sink again, like the River of Egypt.

He cried with a mighty voice, saying, *Fallen, fallen is Bavel the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird!
