Terach took Avram his son, Lot the son of Charan, his son's son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Avram's wife. They went forth from Ur of the Kasdim, to go into the land of Kena`an. They came to Charan and lived there.
Therefore the name of it was called Bavel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth. From there, the LORD scattered them abroad on the surface of all the earth.
The king of Ashur brought men from Bavel, and from Kutah, and from Avva, and from Chamat and Sefarvayim, and placed them in the cities of Shomron instead of the children of Yisra'el; and they possessed Shomron, and lived in the cities of it.
While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, *The Kasdim made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you.*
Behold, the land of the Kasdim. This people was not. The Ashur founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They overthrew its palaces. They made it a ruin.
It shall happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Bavel, and that nation, says the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Kasdim; and I will make it desolate forever.
All the nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his own land come: and then many nations and great kings shall make him their bondservant.
Then he came out of the land of the Kasdim, and lived in Charan. From there, when his father was dead, God moved him into this land, where you are now living.
Another, a second angel, followed, saying, *Bavel the great has fallen, which has made all the nations to drink of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality.*
