For thus says the LORD touching Shallum the son of Yoshiyahu, king of Yehudah, who reigned instead of Yoshiyahu his father, [and] who went forth out of this place: He shall not return there any more.

In his days Par`oh-Nekho king of Egypt went up against the king of Ashur to the river Perat: and king Yoshiyahu went against him; and [Par`oh-Nekho] killed him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.

His servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Yerushalayim, and buried him in his own tomb. The people of the land took Yeho'achaz the son of Yoshiyahu, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's place.

Yeho'achaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Yerushalayim: and his mother's name was Chamutal the daughter of Yirmeyahu of Livna.

Par`oh-Nekho made Elyakim the son of Yoshiyahu king in the room of Yoshiyahu his father, and changed his name to Yehoiakim: but he took Yeho'achaz away; and he came to Egypt, and died there.

The sons of Yoshiyahu: the firstborn Yochanan, the second Yehoiakim, the third Tzidkiyahu, the fourth Shallum.

Then certain of the heads of the children of Efrayim, `Azaryah the son of Yochanan, Berekhyah the son of Meshillemot, and Yechizkiyahu the son of Shallum, and `Amasa the son of Chadlai, stood up against those who came from the war,

So Chilkiyah, and they whom the king [had commanded], went to Chuldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhat, the son of Chasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she lived in Yerushalayim in the second quarter;) and they spoke to her to that effect.

But to the land whereunto their soul longs to return, there shall they not return.

The word of the LORD which came to Tzefanyah, the son of Kushi, the son of Gedalyahu, the son of Amaryah, the son of Chizkiyahu, in the days of Yoshiyahu, the son of Amon, king of Yehudah.
