*The Ashur will fall by the sword, not of man; and the sword, not of mankind, shall devour him. He will flee from the sword, and his young men will become subject to forced labor.
He saw a resting place, that it was good, the land, that it was pleasant. He bows his shoulder to the burden, and becomes a servant doing forced labor.
The LORD sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, and the leaders and captains, in the camp of the king of Ashur. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he was come into the house of his god, those who came forth from his own bowels killed him there with the sword.
Therefore it will happen that, when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Tziyon and on Yerushalayim, I will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Ashur, and the insolence of his haughty looks.
The peoples will take them, and bring them to their place. The house of Yisra'el will possess them in the LORD's land for servants and for handmaids. They will take as captives those whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters: but he will rebuke them, and they will flee far off, and will be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.
But the multitude of your foes will be like fine dust, and the multitude of the ruthless ones like chaff that blows away. Yes, it will be in an instant, suddenly.
Woe to you who destroy, but you weren't destroyed; and who betray, but nobody betrayed you! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed; and when you have made an end of betrayal, you will be betrayed.
For that day is [a day] of the Lord, the LORD of Armies, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries: and the sword shall devour and be satiate, and shall drink its fill of their blood; for the Lord, the LORD of Armies, has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Perat.
You, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the children of `Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say you, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;
But I will have mercy on the house of Yehudah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, sword, battle, horses, or horsemen.*
