It happened in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Yisra'el were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Shlomo's reign over Yisra'el, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
The LORD said to him, I have heard your prayer and your supplication, that you have made before me: I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there forever; and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.
Now set your heart and your soul to seek after the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
They gave money also to the masons, and to the carpenters; and food, and drink, and oil, to them of Tzidon, and to them of Tzor, to bring cedar trees from Levanon to the sea, to Yafo, according to the grant that they had of Koresh king of Paras.
The glory of Levanon shall come to you, the fir tree, the pine, and the box tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you, the rams of Nevayot shall minister to you; they shall come up with acceptance on my altar; and I will glorify the house of my glory.
'The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,' says the LORD of Armies; 'and in this place will I give shalom,' says the LORD of Armies.*
