Ya`akov answered Lavan, *Because I was afraid, for I said, 'Lest you should take your daughters from me by force.'
Avraham said, *Because I thought, 'Surely the fear of God is not in this place. They will kill me for my wife's sake.'
Now, you want to be gone, because you greatly longed for your father's house, but why have you stolen my gods?*
Anyone you find your gods with shall not live. Before our relatives, discern what is yours with me, and take it.* For Ya`akov didn't know that Rachel had stolen them.
The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in the LORD is kept safe.
