then they drew near to Zerubbavel, and to the heads of fathers' [houses], and said to them, Let us build with you; for we seek your God, as you do; and we sacrifice to him since the days of Esar-Chaddon king of Ashur, who brought us up here.
Ashur can't save us. We won't ride on horses; neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, 'Our gods!' for in you the fatherless finds mercy.*
They will rule the land of Ashur with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in its gates. He will deliver us from the Ashur, when he invades our land, and when he marches within our border.
It will happen that all those who look at you will flee from you, and say, 'Nineveh is laid waste! Who will mourn for her?' Where will I seek comforters for you?*
