Ben-Hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together; and there were thirty-two kings with him, and horses and chariots: and he went up and besieged Shomron, and fought against it.
For he had dominion over all [the region] on this side the River, from Tifsach even to `Aza, over all the kings on this side the River: and he had shalom on all sides round about him.
Thus says Koresh king of Paras, All the kingdoms of the earth has the LORD, the God of heaven, given me; and he has charged me to build him a house in Yerushalayim, which is in Yehudah.
[Then] sent the king an answer to Rechum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions who dwell in Shomron, and in the rest [of the country] beyond the River: Shalom, and so forth.
Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artachshasta gave to Ezra the Kohen, the scribe, even the scribe of the words of the mitzvot of the LORD, and of his statutes to Yisra'el:
this Ezra went up from Bavel: and he was a ready scribe in the Torah of Moshe, which the LORD, the God of Yisra'el, had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God on him.
For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will bring on Tzor Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel, king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with chariots, and with horsemen, and a company, and much people.
The king answered to Daniyel, and said, Of a truth your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you have been able to reveal this secret.
These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings. They also will overcome who are with him, called and chosen and faithful.*
