Thus says the Lord GOD: This shall be the border, by which you shall divide the land for inheritance according to the twelve tribes of Yisra'el: Yosef [shall have two] portions.
Now your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you into Egypt, are mine; Efrayim and Menasheh, even as Re'uven and Shim`on, will be mine.
The blessings of your father have prevailed above the blessings of your ancestors, above the boundaries of the ancient hills. They will be on the head of Yosef, on the crown of the head of him who is separated from his brothers.
The sons of Re'uven the firstborn of Yisra'el (for he was the firstborn; but, because he defiled his father's couch, his birthright was given to the sons of Yosef the son of Yisra'el; and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.
In those days the house of Yehudah shall walk with the house of Yisra'el, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.
Now these are the names of the tribes: From the north end, beside the way of Chetlon to the entrance of Chamat, Chatzar-`Enan at the border of Damascus, northward beside Chamat, (and they shall have their sides east [and] west), Dan, one [portion].
[This] was the lot for the tribe of Menasheh; for he was the firstborn of Yosef. As for Makhir the firstborn of Menasheh, the father of Gil`ad, because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gil`ad and Bashan.
