I will strengthen the arms of the king of Bavel, and put my sword in his hand: but I will break the arms of Par`oh, and he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded man.
For they all would have made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it not be done. But now, [God], strengthen you my hands.
Should an axe brag against him who chops with it? Should a saw exalt itself above him who saws with it? As if a rod should lift those who lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up someone who is not wood.
Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Koresh, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him, and I will loose the waists of kings; to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut:
Therefore, behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will execute judgment on her engraved images; and through all her land the wounded shall groan.
Thus says the Lord GOD to Tzor: shall not the islands shake at the sound of your fall, when the wounded groan, when the slaughter is made in the midst of you?
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nevukhadnetzar 1 king of Bavel; and he shall carry off her multitude, and take her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.
He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought in to destroy the land; and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.
Son of man, I have broken the arm of Par`oh king of Egypt; and behold, it has not been bound up, to apply [healing] medicines, to put a bandage to bind it, that it be strong to hold the sword.
I will hold up the arms of the king of Bavel; and the arms of Par`oh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Bavel, and he shall stretch it out on the land of Egypt.
