then his master shall bring him to God, and shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him for ever.
They spoke to him, saying, If you will be a servant to this people this day, and will serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.

then you shall take an awl, and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. Also to your female servant you shall do likewise.
Shofetim and officers shall you make you in all your gates, which the LORD your God gives you, according to your tribes; and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment.
But Channah didn't go up; for she said to her husband, [I will not go up] until the child be weaned; and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide forever.
