Yosef said to his brothers, *I am dying, but God will surely visit you, and bring you up out of this land to the land which he swore to Avraham, to Yitzchak, and to Ya`akov.*
It happened in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Yisra'el were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Shlomo's reign over Yisra'el, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
They took their journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departing out of the land of Egypt.
I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Kena`ani, the Chittite, the Amori, the Perizzi, the Chivvi, and the Yevusi.
Therefore tell the children of Yisra'el, 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm, and with great judgments:
But Par`oh will not listen to you, and I will lay my hand on Egypt, and bring forth my armies, my people the children of Yisra'el, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments.
that your generations may know that I made the children of Yisra'el to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.'*
[Take the sum of the people], from twenty years old and upward; as the LORD commanded Moshe and the children of Yisra'el, that came forth out of the land of Egypt.
The God of this people chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they stayed as aliens in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm, he led them out of it.
Observe the month of Aviv, and keep the Pesach to the LORD your God; for in the month of Aviv the LORD your God brought you forth out of Egypt by night.
Now I desire to remind you, though you already know this, that the Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who didn't believe.
