but when this became known to the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he had devised against the Jews, should return on his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.

He has brought on them their own iniquity, and will cut them off in their own wickedness. The LORD, our God, will cut them off.

Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it. Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him.

The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.

*In that day,* says the LORD of Armies, *the nail that was fastened in a sure place will give way. It will be cut down, and fall. The burden that was on it will be cut off, for the LORD has spoken it.*

For the day of the LORD is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head.

He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but on whoever it will fall, it will scatter him as dust.*

When David heard that Naval was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, who has pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Naval, and has kept back his servant from evil: and the evil-doing of Naval has the LORD returned on his own head. David sent and spoke concerning Avigayil, to take her to him as wife.
