Then Ester the queen answered, *If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request.

His servants said to him, See now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Yisra'el are merciful kings: let us, we pray you, put sackcloth on our bodies, and ropes on our heads, and go out to the king of Yisra'el: peradventure he will save your life.

Again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. The third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Eliyahu, and begged him, and said to him, man of God, please let my life, and the life of these fifty your servants, be precious in your sight.

He also gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given out in Shushan to destroy them, to show it to Ester, and to declare it to her, and to urge her to go in to the king, to make supplication to him, and to make request before him, for her people.

If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I will prepare for them, and I will do tomorrow as the king has said.*

The king arose in his wrath from the banquet of wine and went into the palace garden. Haman stood up to make request for his life to Ester the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.

She said, *If it pleases the king, and if I have found favor in his sight, and the thing seem right to the king, and I am pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman, the son of Hammedata the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the king's provinces.

Hasatan answered the LORD, and said, *Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.

then you shall tell them, I presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to Yonatan's house, to die there.
