A drought is on her waters, and they shall be dried up; for it is a land of engraved images, and they are mad over idols.

But those who escorted Sha'ul brought him as far as Athens. Receiving a mitzvah to Sila and Timothy that they should come to him very quickly, they departed.

Now while Sha'ul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw the city full of idols.

They took hold of him, and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, *May we know what this new teaching is, which is spoken by you?

But certain men joined with him, and believed, among whom also was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, *You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn't know that the city of the Efesim is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?

but had certain questions against him about their own religion, and about one Yeshua, who was dead, whom Sha'ul affirmed to be alive.
