Avshalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man had a suit which should come to the king for judgment, then Avshalom called to him, and said, Of what city are you? He said, Your servant is of one of the tribes of Yisra'el.

Chamor and Shekhem, his son, came to the gate of their city, and talked with the men of their city, saying,

Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. They told to all the people, saying, Behold, the king is sitting in the gate: and all the people came before the king. Now Yisra'el had fled every man to his tent.

They spoke to him, saying, If you are kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.

The murderer rises with the light. He kills the poor and needy. In the night he is like a thief.

When Moshe' father-in-law saw all that he did to the people, he said, *What is this thing that you do for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning to evening?*

When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between a man and his neighbor, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.*

They judged the people at all times. They brought the hard causes to Moshe, but every small matter they judged themselves.

For they don't sleep, unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.

In his place shall stand up a contemptible person, to whom they had not given the honor of the kingdom: but he shall come in time of security, and shall obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

Now when morning had come, all the chief Kohanim and the elders of the people took counsel against Yeshua to put him to death:

If there arise a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates; then shall you arise, and go up to the place which the LORD your God shall choose;

Now Bo`az went up to the gate, and sat him down there: and behold, the near kinsman of whom Bo`az spoke came by; to whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. He turned aside, and sat down.
