They beat down the cities; and on every good piece of land they cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the springs of water, and felled all the good trees, until in Kir-Hareset [only] they left the stones of it; however the men armed with slings went about it, and struck it.

Now all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Avraham his father, the Pelishtim had stopped, and filled with earth.

Yitzchak dug again the wells of water, which they had dug in the days of Avraham his father. For the Pelishtim had stopped them after the death of Avraham. He called their names after the names by which his father had called them.

He struck Mo'av, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Mo`avim became servants to David, and brought tribute.

The burden of Mo'av: for in a night, `Ar of Mo'av is laid waste, and brought to nothing; for in a night Kir of Mo'av is laid waste, and brought to nothing.

Therefore my heart sounds like a harp for Mo'av, and my inward parts for Kir-Heres.

Therefore Mo'av will wail for Mo'av. Everyone will wail. You will mourn for the raisin cakes of Kir-Hareset, utterly stricken.

Therefore will I wail for Mo'av; yes, I will cry out for all Mo'av: for the men of Kir-Heres shall they mourn.

Therefore my heart sounds for Mo'av like pipes, and my heart sounds like pipes for the men of Kir-Heres: therefore the abundance that he has gotten is perished.

The LORD said to me, Don't bother Mo'av, neither contend with them in battle; for I will not give you of his land for a possession; because I have given `Ar to the children of Lot for a possession.

Avimelekh fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and killed the people who were therein: and he beat down the city, and sowed it with salt.
