The king of Ashur sent Tartan and Rav-Saris and Ravshakeh from Lakhish to king Chizkiyahu with a great army to Yerushalayim. They went up and came to Yerushalayim. When they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.
But Ravshakeh said to them, Has my master sent me to your master, and to you, to speak these words? Hasn't he sent me to the men who sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?
They cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language to the people of Yerushalayim who were on the wall, to frighten them, and to trouble them; that they might take the city.
Speak and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: *Behold, I am against you, Par`oh king of Egypt, the great monster that lies in the midst of his rivers, that has said, 'My river is my own, and I have made it for myself.'
I heard something like the voice of a great multitude, and like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of mighty thunders, saying, *Halleluyah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns!
