He came to Derbe and Lystra: and behold, a certain talmid was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess who believed; but his father was a Greek.

Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also were conversing with him. Some said, *What does this babbler want to say?* Others said, *He seems to be advocating foreign deities,* because he preached Yeshua and the resurrection.

Now all the Athenians and the strangers living there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell or to hear some new thing.

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Much in every way! Because first of all, they were entrusted with the oracles of God.

We speak wisdom, however, among those who are full grown; yet a wisdom not of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who are coming to nothing.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, *He has taken the wise in their craftiness.*

Let no one rob you of your prize by a voluntary humility and worshipping of the angels, dwelling in the things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

Be careful that you don't let anyone rob you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Messiah.

so that we ourselves boast about you in the assemblies of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you endure.

So then, brothers, stand firm, and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word, or by letter.

according to the Good News of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

to Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, and shalom, from God our Father and Messiah Yeshua our Lord.

neither to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes, rather than God's stewardship, which is in faith--

from which things some, having missed the mark, have turned aside to vain talking;

as knowing this, that Torah is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

But refuse profane and old wives' fables. Exercise yourself toward godliness.

But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.

that you keep the mitzvah without spot, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah;

You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Messiah Yeshua.

But shun empty chatter, for they will proceed further in ungodliness,

not paying attention to Jewish fables and mitzvot of men who turn away from the truth.

to Titus, my true child according to a common faith: Grace, mercy, and shalom from God the Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah our Savior.

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.

but shun foolish questionings, genealogies, strife, and disputes about the Torah; for they are unprofitable and vain.

Remember therefore how you have received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If therefore you won't watch, I will come as a thief, and you won't know what hour I will come upon you.
