They sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiryat-Ye`arim, saying, The Pelishtim have brought back the ark of the LORD; come you down, and bring it up to you.
David arose, and went with all the people who were with him, from Ba`ale-Yeudah, to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the Name, even the name of the LORD of Armies who sits [above] the Keruvim.
There was also a man who prophesied in the name of the LORD, Uriyah the son of Shemayah of Kiryat-Ye`arim; and he prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Yirmeyahu:
But go you now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Yisra'el.

and the border extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nefto'ach, and went out to the cities of Mount `Efron; and the border extended to Ba`alah (the same is Kiryat-Ye`arim);
The border extended [there], and turned about on the west quarter southward, from the mountain that lies before Beit-Choron southward; and the goings out of it were at Kiryat-Ba`al (the same is Kiryat-Ye`arim), a city of the children of Yehudah: this was the west quarter.
The children of Yisra'el traveled, and came to their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Giv`on, and Kefirah, and Be'erot, and Kiryat-Ye`arim.
They went up, and encamped in Kiryat-Ye`arim, in Yehudah: therefore they called that place Machane-Dan, to this day; behold, it is behind Kiryat-Ye`arim.
