It happened after the death of Sha'ul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the `Amaleki, and David had abode two days in Tziklag;

of Syria, and of Mo'av, and of the children of `Ammon, and of the Pelishtim, and of `Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadad`ezer, son of Rechov, king of Tzovah.

They rose up in the twilight, to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they were come to the outermost part of the camp of the Syrians, behold, there was no man there.

They struck the remnant of the `Amaleki who escaped, and have lived there to this day.

Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind. I cast them out as the mire of the streets.

But Yishma'el the son of Netanyah escaped from Yochanan with eight men, and went to the children of `Ammon.

But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the army, to Charoshet of the Gentiles: and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; there was not a man left.

The Midyanim and the `Amaleki and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand which is on the seashore for multitude.

It was so on the next day, that Sha'ul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the `Ammonim until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.

Now go and strike `Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and don't spare them; but kill both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.
