David said to him, To whom belong you? and whence are you? He said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an `Amaleki; and my master left me, because three days ago I fell sick.

David said to the young man who told him, Whence are you? He answered, I am the son of a foreigner, an `Amaleki.

David said to him, From whence come you? He said to him, Out of the camp of Yisra'el am I escaped.

He said to me, Who are you? I answered him, I am an `Amaleki.

A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Then they asked him, *Tell us, please, for whose cause this evil is on us. What is your occupation? Where do you come from? What is your country? Of what people are you?*

For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
