Then Sha'ul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Zif, having three thousand chosen men of Yisra'el with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Zif.
Sha'ul chose him three thousand men of Yisra'el, of which two thousand were with Sha'ul in Mikhmash and in the Mount of Beit-El, and one thousand were with Yonatan in Gevah of Binyamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.
He came to the sheep pens by the way, where was a cave; and Sha'ul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.
