Shemu'el died; and all Yisra'el gathered themselves together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
When the inhabitants of the land, the Kena`anim, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, *This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians.* Therefore, the name of it was called Avel-Mitzrayim, which is beyond the Yarden.
They went and came to Moshe, and to Aharon, and to all the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, to the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word to them, and to all the congregation, and shown them the fruit of the land.
They rose up in the morning early, and worshiped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkana knew Channah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.
Now Shemu'el was dead, and all Yisra'el had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. Sha'ul had put away those who had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
