They brought the head of Ish-Boshet to David to Chevron, and said to the king, Behold, the head of Ish-Boshet, the son of Sha'ul, your enemy, who sought your life; and the LORD has avenged my lord the king this day of Sha'ul, and of his seed.
David abode in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill country in the wilderness of Zif. Sha'ul sought him every day, but God didn't deliver him into his hand.
Sha'ul encamped in the hill of Chakhilah, which is before the desert, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Sha'ul came after him into the wilderness.
