David went there to Mitzpeh of Mo'av: and he said to the king of Mo'av, Please let my father and my mother come forth, [and be] with you, until I know what God will do for me.
Yosef placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Ra`meses, as Par`oh had commanded.
He struck Mo'av, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. The Mo`avim became servants to David, and brought tribute.
But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to repay their parents, for this is acceptable in the sight of God.
Then the Spirit of the LORD came on Yiftach, and he passed over Gil`ad and Menasheh, and passed over Mitzpeh of Gil`ad, and from Mitzpeh of Gil`ad he passed over to the children of `Ammon.

The women her neighbors gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Na`omi 1; and they named him `Oved 1: he is the father of Yishai, the father of David.
Now when Sha'ul had taken the kingdom over Yisra'el, he fought against all his enemies on every side, against Mo'av, and against the children of `Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Tzovah, and against the Pelishtim: and wherever he turned himself, he put [them] to the worse.
