Sha'ul spoke to Yonatan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Yonatan, Sha'ul's son, delighted much in David.

They saw him afar off, and before he came near to them, they conspired against him to kill him.

They brought the head of Ish-Boshet to David to Chevron, and said to the king, Behold, the head of Ish-Boshet, the son of Sha'ul, your enemy, who sought your life; and the LORD has avenged my lord the king this day of Sha'ul, and of his seed.

It happened, when he had made an end of speaking to Sha'ul, that the soul of Yonatan was knit with the soul of David, and Yonatan loved him as his own soul.

Sha'ul said, Thus shall you tell David, The king desires no dowry except one hundred foreskins of the Pelishtim, to be avenged of the king's enemies. Now Sha'ul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Pelishtim.

Then Yonatan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

Sha'ul was very angry, and this saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?

Sha'ul eyed David from that day and forward.

Yonatan told David, saying, Sha'ul my father seeks to kill you: now therefore, please take care of yourself in the morning, and live in a secret place, and hide yourself:

David fled from Nayot in Ramah, and came and said before Yonatan, *What have I done? What is my iniquity?* and *What is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?*

When you have stayed three days, you shall go down quickly, and come to the place where you did hide yourself when the business was in hand, and shall remain by the stone Ezel.
