When the Pelishti looked about, and saw David, he disdained him; for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and withal of a fair face.
He said, Whether they are come out for shalom, take them alive, or whether they are come out for war, taken them alive.

He sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful face, and goodly to look on. The LORD said, Arise, anoint him; for this is he.
Sha'ul said to David, You are not able to go against this Pelishti to fight with him; for you are but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
The Pelishti came on and drew near to David; and the man who bore the shield went before him.
