Yitzchak answered Esav, *Behold, I have made him your lord, and all his brothers have I given to him for servants. With grain and new wine have I sustained him. What then will I do for you, my son?*
He put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edom became servants to David. The LORD gave victory to David wherever he went.
For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Chiram: once every three years came the navy of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
So the king of Yisra'el went, and the king of Yehudah, and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days' journey: and there was no water for the army, nor for the animals that followed them.
When he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army, and say, Give thanks to the LORD; for his loving kindness endures forever.
But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, don't let the army of Yisra'el go with you; for the LORD is not with Yisra'el, [to wit], with all the children of Efrayim.
For the king had ships that went to Tarshish with the servants of Churam; once every three years came the ships of Tarshish, bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
Surely the islands shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of the LORD your God, and for the Holy One of Yisra'el, because he has glorified you.
But Yonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Yafo, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid its fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
