Some time later Naomi said to Ruth, “I must find a husband for you, so that you will have a home of your own.

But please remember me when everything is going well for you, and please be kind enough to mention me to the king and help me get out of this prison.

Your work will provide for your needs; you will be happy and prosperous.

In the case of an engaged couple who have decided not to marry: if the man feels that he is not acting properly toward the young woman and if his passions are too strong and he feels that they ought to marry, then they should get married, as he wants to. There is no sin in this.

Obey all his laws that I have given you today, and all will go well with you and your descendants. You will continue to live in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to be yours forever.”

So I would prefer that the younger widows get married, have children, and take care of their homes, so as to give our enemies no chance of speaking evil of us.

But if any do not take care of their relatives, especially the members of their own family, they have denied the faith and are worse than an unbeliever.

And may the Lord make it possible for each of you to marry again and have a home.” So Naomi kissed them good-bye. But they started crying

So Ruth worked with them and gathered grain until all the barley and wheat had been harvested. And she continued to live with her mother-in-law.

Remember that this man Boaz, whose women you have been working with, is our relative. Now listen. This evening he will be threshing the barley.
