By chance, however, a Syrian soldier shot an arrow which struck King Ahab between the joints of his armor. “I'm wounded!” he cried out to his chariot driver. “Turn around and pull out of the battle!”

Almighty God has shot me with arrows, and their poison spreads through my body. God has lined up his terrors against me.

He shot his arrows and scattered his enemies; with flashes of lightning he sent them running.

They are quick to spread their shameless lies; they destroy good people with cowardly slander.

They are instantly destroyed; they go down to a horrible end.

If you get more stubborn every time you are corrected, one day you will be crushed and never recover.

Because of this, disaster will strike them without warning, and they will be fatally wounded.

One fate comes to all alike, and this is as wrong as anything that happens in this world. As long as people live, their minds are full of evil and madness, and suddenly they die.

You are guilty. You are like a high wall with a crack running down it; suddenly you will collapse.

“Who can understand the human heart? There is nothing else so deceitful; it is too sick to be healed.

At that time two men will be working in a field: one will be taken away, the other will be left behind.

“‘I will bring on them endless disasters and use all my arrows against them.

My arrows will drip with their blood, and my sword will kill all who oppose me. I will spare no one who fights against me; even the wounded and prisoners will die.’
