Their speech is wicked and full of lies; they no longer do what is wise and good.

Like his father Asa before him, he did what was right in the sight of the Lord;

Their speech is filled with curses, lies, and threats; they are quick to speak hateful, evil words.

But when you punish the wicked, punish also those who abandon your ways. Peace be with Israel!

Their tongues are like deadly snakes; their words are like a cobra's poison.

What my enemies say can never be trusted; they only want to destroy. Their words are flattering and smooth, but full of deadly deceit.

His words were smoother than cream, but there was hatred in his heart; his words were as soothing as oil, but they cut like sharp swords.

Evildoers go wrong all their lives; they tell lies from the day they are born.

My people, how can you be such stupid fools? When will you ever learn?

Wicked people cannot sleep unless they have done something wrong. They lie awake unless they have hurt someone.

The Lord says, “My people are stupid; they don't know me. They are like foolish children; they have no understanding. They are experts at doing what is evil, but failures at doing what is good.”

they have rejected what is good. Because of this their enemies will pursue them.

I will destroy those who have turned back and no longer follow me, those who do not come to me or ask me to guide them.”

We are not people who turn back and are lost. Instead, we have faith and are saved.

These people really did not belong to our fellowship, and that is why they left us; if they had belonged to our fellowship, they would have stayed with us. But they left so that it might be clear that none of them really belonged to us.
