When evil people attack me and try to kill me, they stumble and fall.
Why must you persecute me the way God does? Haven't you tormented me enough?
All those who work for me know that I have always welcomed strangers.
They swarmed around me like bees, but they burned out as quickly as a brush fire; by the power of the Lord I destroyed them.
“Don't they know?” asks the Lord. “Are all these evildoers ignorant? They live by robbing my people, and they never pray to me.”
The danger of death was all around me; the waves of destruction rolled over me.
An evil gang is around me; like a pack of dogs they close in on me; they tear at my hands and feet.
Come, Lord! Save me, my God! You punish all my enemies and leave them powerless to harm me.
“Don't they know?” God asks. “Are these evildoers ignorant? They live by robbing my people, and they never pray to me.”
My enemies turn back when you appear; they fall down and die.
Many will stumble; they will fall and be crushed. They will be caught in a trap.”
