in you, my God, I trust. Save me from the shame of defeat; don't let my enemies gloat over me!

And so the people of Judah were victorious over Israel, because they relied on the Lord, the God of their ancestors.

I rely on your constant love; I will be glad, because you will rescue me.

Listen to my cry for help, for I am sunk in despair. Save me from my enemies; they are too strong for me.

The Lord is my protector; he is my strong fortress. My God is my protection, and with him I am safe. He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe.

My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? I have cried desperately for help, but still it does not come.

They called to you and escaped from danger; they trusted you and were not disappointed.

“You relied on the Lord,” they say. “Why doesn't he save you? If the Lord likes you, why doesn't he help you?”

I come to you, Lord, for protection; never let me be defeated. You are a righteous God; save me, I pray!

I am always in your care; save me from my enemies, from those who persecute me.

Hear me! Save me now! Be my refuge to protect me; my defense to save me.

Find out for yourself how good the Lord is. Happy are those who find safety with him.

He helps them and rescues them; he saves them from the wicked, because they go to him for protection.

They will not triumph over me, and I will know that you are pleased with me.

Be merciful to me, O God, because I am under attack; my enemies persecute me all the time.

O Lord, my God, I come to you for protection; rescue me and save me from all who pursue me,

Lord, I have come to you for protection; never let me be defeated!

can say to him, “You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust.”

How much longer will the wicked be glad? How much longer, Lord?

You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you.

This, now, is what the Sovereign Lord says: “I am placing in Zion a foundation that is firm and strong. In it I am putting a solid cornerstone on which are written the words, ‘Faith that is firm is also patient.’

of Judah to tell him: “The god you are trusting in has told you that you will not fall into my hands, but don't let that deceive you.

Now, Lord our God, rescue us from the Assyrians, so that all the nations of the world will know that you alone are God.”

I will defend this city and protect it, for the sake of my own honor and because of the promise I made to my servant David.’”

You will toss them in the air; the wind will carry them off, and they will be scattered by the storm. Then you will be happy because I am your God; you will praise me, the holy God of Israel.

Kings will be like fathers to you; queens will be like mothers. They will bow low before you and honor you; they will humbly show their respect for you. Then you will know that I am the Lord; no one who waits for my help will be disappointed.”

Bring disgrace on those who persecute me, but spare me, Lord. Fill them with terror, but do not terrify me. Bring disaster on them and break them to pieces.

The scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be disappointed.”

This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us.

For the scripture says, “I chose a valuable stone, which I am placing as the cornerstone in Zion; and whoever believes in him will never be disappointed.”
