Lord God of Israel, you are just, but you have let us survive. We confess our guilt to you; we have no right to come into your presence.”

You were watching to see if I would sin, so that you could refuse to forgive me.

Can any human being be really pure? Can anyone be right with God?

I am innocent and faithful, but my words sound guilty, and everything I say seems to condemn me.

Don't put me, your servant, on trial; no one is innocent in your sight.

But you, Lord, are feared by all. No one can stand in your presence when you are angry.

All of us were like sheep that were lost, each of us going his own way. But the Lord made the punishment fall on him, the punishment all of us deserved.

When he is angry, who can survive? Who can survive his terrible fury? He pours out his flaming anger; rocks crumble to dust before him.

But who will be able to endure the day when he comes? Who will be able to survive when he appears? He will be like strong soap, like a fire that refines metal.

Remember your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and do not pay any attention to the stubbornness, wickedness, and sin of this people.

The terrible day of their anger is here, and who can stand up against it?”
