Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are; simply obey the Lord and refuse to do wrong.

David got up from the floor, took a bath, combed his hair, and changed his clothes. Then he went and worshiped in the house of the Lord. When he returned to the palace, he asked for food and ate it as soon as it was served.

Every governor who had been in office before me had been a burden to the people and had demanded forty silver coins a day for food and wine. Even their servants had oppressed the people. But I acted differently, because I honored God.

There was a man named Job, living in the land of Uz, who worshiped God and was faithful to him. He was a good man, careful not to do anything evil.

God said to us humans, “To be wise, you must have reverence for the Lord. To understand, you must turn from evil.”

Moses replied, “Don't be afraid; God has only come to test you and make you keep on obeying him, so that you will not sin.”

Sensible people are careful to stay out of trouble, but stupid people are careless and act too quickly.

Do you want to avoid death? Reverence for the Lord is a fountain of life.

Be loyal and faithful, and God will forgive your sin. Obey the Lord and nothing evil will happen to you.

Be wise enough not to wear yourself out trying to get rich.

The most stupid fool is better off than those who think they are wise when they are not.

Give a silly answer to a silly question, and the one who asked it will realize that he's not as smart as he thinks.

Rich people always think they are wise, but a poor person who has insight into character knows better.

It is foolish to follow your own opinions. Be safe, and follow the teachings of wiser people.

To honor the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil ways and false words.

After all this, there is only one thing to say: Have reverence for God, and obey his commands, because this is all that we were created for.

You are doomed! You think you are wise, so very clever.

There is a secret truth, my friends, which I want you to know, for it will keep you from thinking how wise you are. It is that the stubbornness of the people of Israel is not permanent, but will last only until the complete number of Gentiles comes to God.

Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise.
