Wise children pay attention when their parents correct them, but arrogant people never admit they are wrong.

Like his father Asa before him, he did what was right in the sight of the Lord; but the places of worship were not destroyed, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

These are Solomon's proverbs: Wise children make their fathers proud of them; foolish ones bring their mothers grief.

Stupid people always think they are right. Wise people listen to advice.

Conceited people can never become wise, but intelligent people learn easily.

Conceited people do not like to be corrected; they never ask for advice from those who are wiser.

Wise children make their fathers happy. Only fools despise their mothers.

It is foolish to ignore what your parents taught you; it is wise to accept their correction.

Now then, sons, listen to me. Pay attention to what I say.

If anyone sins against someone else, God can defend the one who is wrong; but who can defend someone who sins against the Lord?” But they would not listen to their father, for the Lord had decided to kill them.
