Good News Translation

Wickedness does not give security, but righteous people stand firm.

They will not remain rich for long; nothing they own will last. Even their shadows will vanish,

They make loans without charging interest and cannot be bribed to testify against the innocent. Whoever does these things will always be secure.

Storms come, and the wicked are blown away, but honest people are always safe.

Honesty makes a good person's life easier, but the wicked will cause their own downfall.

All that wicked people want is to find evil things to do, but the righteous stand firm.

No one can keep from dying or put off the day of death. That is a battle we cannot escape; we cannot cheat our way out.

and I pray that Christ will make his home in your hearts through faith. I pray that you may have your roots and foundation in love,

Keep your roots deep in him, build your lives on him, and become stronger in your faith, as you were taught. And be filled with thanksgiving.

Thank God for your good sense and for what you have done today in keeping me from the crime of murder and from taking my own revenge.
