Balaam replied, “I have sinned. I did not know that you were standing in the road to oppose me; but now if you think it is wrong for me to go on, I will return home.”

“I have sinned against the Lord,” David said. Nathan replied, “The Lord forgives you; you will not die.

God was displeased with what had been done, so he punished Israel.

Whenever he killed some of them, the rest would turn to him; they would repent and pray earnestly to him.

The king sent for Moses and Aaron and said, “This time I have sinned; the Lord is in the right, and my people and I are in the wrong.

The Lord will know if you are gloating, and he will not like it; and then maybe he won't punish them.

The people began to complain to the Lord about their troubles. When the Lord heard them, he became angry and sent fire on the people. It burned among them and destroyed one end of the camp.

Early the next morning they started out to invade the hill country, saying, “Now we are ready to go to the place which the Lord told us about. We admit that we have sinned.”

God said to Balaam, “Do not go with them, and do not put a curse on the people of Israel, because they have my blessing.”

But your donkey saw me and turned aside three times. If it hadn't, I would have killed you and spared the donkey.”

“Yes, I have sinned,” Saul replied. “I disobeyed the Lord's command and your instructions. I was afraid of my men and did what they wanted.

“I have sinned,” Saul replied. “But at least show me respect in front of the leaders of my people and all of Israel. Go back with me so that I can worship the Lord your God.”

Then he said to David, “You are right, and I am wrong. You have been so good to me, while I have done such wrong to you!

Saul answered, “I have done wrong. Come back, David, my son! I will never harm you again, because you have spared my life tonight. I have been a fool! I have done a terrible thing!”
